Alongside course modules, the academy provides veterans with a powerful professional network and direct connections to companies looking to hire former military members. Through identifying suitable career fairs, corporate partnerships, and a vast alumni network, veterans get priority introductions to open jobs matching their interests, qualifications, and skills.
The DPLOY team guides participants through all stages of the hiring process, from crafting application materials to negotiating offers to networking effectively, enabling learners to confidently navigate their civilian job search.
Online Course Modules, Job Postings, and Placements
We offer a state-of-the-art mobile app that keeps all the resources and insights from our career transition program at veterans' fingertips. Through the app, users can access the library of modules, course material, and virtual support from anywhere.
We also provide job posts and candidate placement services. Our job board is continually updated with hand-picked opportunities best suited to the needs and skills of our network.
Our core curriculum is set up as a step-by-step plan to help military personnel start their transition effectively.
Our coursework begins by helping our participants set realistic goals for their civilian transition, whether pursuing education, a new career, or entrepreneurship, and supports them by breaking those goals into actionable steps with timelines.
Module 2 sees our participants take personality assessments like MBTI and Big Five to identify their strengths, preferences, and work styles. These are used to provide guidance on leveraging those personal traits for success in their new civilian careers or endeavors.
Our next step involves a comprehensive skills assessment to identify veterans' transferable competencies from military service, such as leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability. We then provide coaching on how to effectively apply these valuable skills across various civilian roles and industries.
Module 4 provides training and counseling to help military personnel shift their mindset and adapt their approaches to communication, decision-making, and problem-solving for the civilian workplace environment.
A critical part of the coursework, Module 5 assists veterans in translating their military experience into civilian terms on resumes, highlighting transferable skills and relevant achievements that align with job requirements, and emphasizing key leadership roles, training, and accomplishments from their service.
In Module 6, participants are trained to tailor their resumes to the specific required skills and qualifications for a position by customizing content to match job descriptions, showcasing how their military background uniquely qualifies them.
Finally, the academy guides veterans through accepting that some military skills may not directly apply in civilian roles. Attendees are encouraged to focus on the transferable skills that are valuable in the civilian workforce and appreciate the value of acquiring new skills as needed.
